Krakow Update
May 26, 2005 - Krakow...a city so rich in history, beauty, and charm. The people are very strong and independent. They have had to be to survive the climate and the oppression under so many foreign powers over the last 1,000 years. And yet, the very qualities that have allowed them to grow inspite of nazism and communism are the very qualities which must be navigated in sharing Christ.
JoePix has proven to be a very effective tool over here. The students have loved getting a "FREE" photo and being approached in such a positive way, while our volunteers have loved being received so warmly by their peers. As we wrap up our second day in Krakow we have already touched nearly 5,000 students and shared Christ with several hundred!!!! Amazing for a little more than 24 hours on the ground here:-) Our photo evangelism teams are all natives of Poland and amazingly motivated to impact their culture (which is 90+% "Catholic" with very little meaning to the term...call it "Rosary-Belt Catholicism" as opposed to "Bible-Belt Christianity"). I have been deeply convicted once again of what real passion for the unbelievers looks like. It is spending hours in rain and cold just to have a chance to share Christ. It is trying something different and new in faith. It is crying humbly out to God for His Spirit's conviction and beauty to draw people to Him.
My call to all of us is to find our knees and our tears again for the world, the States, our cities, our neighbors, our families. We have been blessed beyond measure in Christ. Sharing that blessing is a no-brainer.
