Eric Reed

Eric ReedEric is the former Director of Operations at BlueSky Ministries and JoePix. Since January of 2006, Eric has been serving as the Minister to Married Young Adults and Men at Houston's First Baptist Church. He still remains commited to the vision of BlueSky Ministries and has accepted an active position on the BlueSky Ministries' Board of Directors beginning in March of 2006. He is passionate about art (especially Impressionism), photography (especially Ansel Adams), music, people, running, and discussions about Christianity and life. His greatest joys are helping people get connected in community, encouraging people to pursue authenticity, and helping them explore the intersection of faith and reality.

Prior to joining BlueSky in the fall of 2003, Eric spent six years as a Bible teacher and coach in Houston, Texas. While in Houston, his teams did extremely well, winning back-to-back State AAAA titles in cross country. Seeing his runners, wrestlers, and students grow and mature was one of the greatest blessings he has experienced. Before his education career, Eric worked as a House Director for Shelterwood and Doulos ministries in both Branson, Missouri and Denver, Colorado. Working with 'troubled teens' opened Eric's eyes to the real needs everyone has hidden deep within.

Eric received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Bachelors from Furman University. While at Furman, he forged a strong bond with Davies Owens through teaching together, DJing a weekly radio show on WPLS, which had an international audience of at least seven rabid fans, and discussing every huge question of which his twenty-one year old mind could conceive. Amazingly, God used that relationship to bring Eric onto the BlueSky team.

Eric lives in Houston with his awesome wife, Stacie, and three great kids: Emma (five-years old), Luke (age three), and the most recent edition Kate. While the Reed household is seldom quiet anymore, the laughter, music, and crazy noises are exciting reminders of God's grace in life. While they have no pets, the neighbors' cats are often seen on Emma's windowsill or the roof. The family enjoys worship with their community at Houston's First Baptist Church, riding their bikes, creating all forms of art, and swinging so high they touch the sky!
